Online Coaching Tip of The Week – 19.05.21
This week’s coaching tip comes from Shelly Yu, our experienced online coach based in Vancouver, Canada:
Hi Tribe 365! It’s Shelly here with another coaching tip of the week. This week we’re talking about journaling!
Traditionally, journaling is used to track symptoms in order to make your doctor’s appointments easier, however did you know journaling works wonders for exercise as well?
One of the main benefits to journaling is to hold yourself accountable in your exercise regime and to motivate yourself to continue your exercise journey.
Here are some ways you can incorporate journaling in your daily exercise:
- record the date and time of your exercises
- record how long the exercise lasted
- describe what type of exercise you did
- before you exercise: reflect on how you feel
- after your exercise: reflect on how you feel
- reflect on what you would like to achieve by exercising
You can look back on your journal entries to see how realistic and achievable your current exercise regime is (i.e. are you exercising as frequently as you hoped). If not, use your reflections to guide the modifications for your exercise regime. You can also use your journal entries as a motivator on tough days, and remind yourself of why you started exercising.
Happy journaling!
