Instructions: 1. Hold a scarf in your right hand, feet wide apart in a split stance. 2. Have your empty hand right out in front and your scarf hand stretched behind you. 3. Throw the scarf directly up into the air, as high as you can towards the ceiling. 4. As the scarf floats down, snatch it out of the air as it reaches shoulder height. 5. Swing your arm behind you to the finish point and hold.
Notes: If your shoulder hurts you can focus on throwing from the elbow. If you are unsteady, hold on to a chair with one hand and focus on one side only. Throw overhand to increase coordination and mobility in your hand. Ensure you hold at the ‘finish’ to stretch into full range. Throwing the scarf out in front means your timing and release may need work. Progress by swinging both arms reciprocally.
