This month’s Exercise of the Month is a practical movement sequence designed to help “reset” the body during freezing episodes and improve stepping confidence.
The sequence progresses through:
Waddle walking → High knees → Marching on the spot → Forward walking
Each movement is designed to gradually increase step size, rhythm, and weight shifting to help overcome the feeling of being “stuck.” By practising this sequence regularly, you can train your brain to respond more effectively when freezing occurs in daily life.
The focus is on:
● Bigger, more deliberate movements
● Rhythm and stepping control
● Improving movement initiation
● Building confidence during walking transitions
Remember: slowing down, resetting, and restarting movement is often more effective than trying to push through a freeze.
