Thank you all for this interesting and thought provoking Discussion on Freezing of Gait

Perhaps Prof. Per Borghammer’s presentation today, ” Brain-first and Body -first Parkinson’s disease” might give us more clarity in understanding and identifying the different subtypes of PD, PPD and DLB + or-AD when Freezing of Gait presents as part of the client’s history.

Having a greater insight about the history of onset of signs, symptoms, impairments and comorbidities found during Assessment will help clinicians and researchers to identify and personalize physiotherapy treatment for people with FOG.

In my clinical experience I have observed that people with FOG experience cognitive freezing as well as motor freezing. I have had to find ways for them to unlock the cognitive freeze before they can initiate a lateral weight shift to resume movement . Do any of the panel for today’s discussion have further comment and experience about this?

Insight 2024 is providing me with deeper knowledge and a huge appreciation for the enormous amount of work and collaboration relating to PD that is going on around the world. It is really exciting to see the growth in knowledge, and the evidence from research flowing to the development of clinical best practice guidelines that I have witnessed in attending The Insight Conference over the past 5 years.

A Big Thank you to Melissa and the Insight Team for bringing this conference for the benefit of so many again this year.
