I am neither fat nor cognitively impaired and I am 82. I developed freezing just this year. I was diagnosed in February 2017. I found PD Warrior shortly after diagnosis and have exercised 5 days a week almost fanatically since then. I only started to really deteriorate last year. My freezing is just a first 2 or 3 steps problem. Any changes in texture of the ground, corner or narrow corridor is liable to stop me. I asked my neurologist for clues as to what I.could do to overcome them. He suggested putting an imaginary log across my path, or counting 123 go. My imagination didn’t connect with either of those. I made a metronome and started using a walking stick. Neither of which helped a lot. I dropped the walking stick one day and stepped over it. So I turned it upside down. It worked very well, people asking me endlessly . Do you know your stick is upside down ? So , I made one. It works, depending on how tired I am. Poor attempt at a video attached. It consists of a standard brush handle cut to length, a shaped piece of 2x1inch pine drilled to fit. A bump rubber screwed to the bottom of the stick. A Bike handle bar grip and a bit of paint if you want it. I was really tired recently. I discovered in can still get stuck on pedestrian crossing at the local shopping centre. Such fun!!!
