Very interesting talk, thank you. I am genetically at risk for PD and want to ameliorate that risk. I have 3 questions related to the possibility of risk mitigation via the microbiome: Firstly, I like a yoghurt that contains Bifidobacteria (along with S. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus)- given that Bifidobacteria seem to be increased in PD patients, is that unwise? Secondly, is it reasonable to reduce my intake of choline and betaine rich foods in the hope of reducing TMAO, and is that a reasonable strategy for people with PD who want to delay progression? And thirdly, in a C. elegans worm study, B. subtilis was found to ameliorate Parkinsonism and alpha-synuclein clumping. Is it reasonable therefore to supplement with Bio-Kult Mind that contains this probiotic?
